Scenes From A Hospital Bed, Part II

As I walked into the hospital room today I was met with a much perkier Jonas. He was talking more and even smiling.

He was also holding on to a container of oatmeal. He really likes holding containers and boxes. Later in the day he insisted on holding his Puffins cereal. He didn't want to eat any of it but apparently he heard about Irene coming and wanted to be prepared with food at hand!!

The plan for today was to begin elevating his bed by 10 degrees every hour for 6 hours until he reached 60 degrees upright. The reason being his cerebral spinal fluid needs time to readjust slowly and not put too much pressure on his incision.

Unfortunately after 15 minutes at 10 degrees he was nauseous and telling me his head hurt. So back down he went. Four hours later we tried again with the same outcome. Hopefully he will be able to tolerate these adjustments because he needs to be able to sit up if we are ever going to leave the hospital!!

We are grateful that the incision seems to be healing well and hopefully Jonas will begin feeling good again soon.

He did really enjoy his visitors today. Our friends the Stalkers came by to visit and helped us all enjoy our afternoon a bit more. It was such a nice and welcomed distraction.

He also enjoyed talking to Clara and Grandma on the phone.

Overall a decent day and hoping for an even better one tomorrow! That's our update for today.
